Preservationists are dedicated to protecting the unique and historic sites where we have lived, played, worshiped. The Southern Tier is blessed with a rich variety of buildings and landmarks. Unfortunately, much of it is under the quiet attack of neglect, insensitive planning or simply the effects of time. By saving our architectural treasures we preserve clues about our history, the craftsmanship of bygone eras and what makes us interesting as a people and a community. Preservation enhances the natural beauty of our region and gives the Southern Tier a more vibrant culture.

The Preservation Association of the Southern Tier is committed to preserving the heritage of the Southern Tier by promoting and protecting places of historic, architectural and cultural significance. Members’ interests are generally focused on advocating through education: encouraging public knowledge of the past through the study of historic places; walking tours and educational seminars; voicing concern to legislators, community leaders, businesses, and developers. We believe that our landmarks should be saved from neglect and thoughtless destruction. We encourage reconstruction and adaptive reuse.
